The new Madras College could get the go-ahead next month with the planning application scheduled to go to the North East Planning Committee for approval on the 9th January.
Previously, the application was expected to be delayed until after a determination was made for the proposed St Andrews West development.
If the Madras application is approved by councillors in January, Fife Council is aiming to have the college constructed for the start of the 2020-21 academic year.
The Madras college will replace existing campuses in South Street and Kilrymont and is expected to cost £50 million. The school will be able to accommodate 1,450 pupils.
