Sir,
I have recently been advised by Fife Council that they have approved the replacement of the lampposts in the central section of The Scores with shiny aluminium poles with flat modern tops (just right for seagulls to sit on?) in an important part of the town’s conservation area. In spite of the example of some quite attractive pseudo-Victorian black lampposts topped with lanterns which have been put into Kennedy Gardens area, these are apparently not considered suitable for The Scores. It is a single track road, very quiet at nighttime but now to be lit like a motorway junction. Conservation guidance is apparently ignored when it suits the Council.
